A few years ago, Rowsley Village Hall was home to a daily pre-school group, which unfortunately had to close. The local parent and toddler group which was based at the Methodist chapel on Chatsworth Road also had to close around the same time due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
The lockdowns had a significant impact on many of us, but especially young children and their parents or carers, who missed out on valuable socialising opportunities.
Volunteers at the Village Hall felt very strongly that we should do all we can to utilise this valuable community space as a place for families to play and meet. Although we we don’t have the resources to run something full time, we would try and use the hall to reduce social isolation and to help families with young children meet each other for support and friendship.
Following the exceptionally hard work of two local residents who over a number of months, carried out a monumental task of clearing out and organising a lot of old equipment and the successful grant application to the Better Derbyshire Dales fund, we are delighted to announce that we will be starting our new parent/carer and toddler group in the spring.
