We’re delighted to announce that The Morgan Three-Wheeler Club is planning a night rally starting at Rowsley Village Hall on 21 and 22 October. It’s specifically for Morgan three-wheelers and will have the approval of Motor Sport UK, the ACU and Derbyshire Police.
The original Morgan Three-Wheelers were built between 1910 and 1952. Throughout that period, they frequently took part in long distance rallies and navigational events. The company’s founder, HFS Morgan, was a great exponent of such events and competed in many of them.
The Morgan Three-Wheeler Club was formed in 1945 and has organised the annual Night Rally in most years since its inception in the mid-1950s. The start point for the event moves around the country each year. It took place in Derbyshire in 2016 and 2021, and on both occasions from Rowsley Village Hall.
Normally about 15 Morgans take part with entrants coming from all parts of the UK and this year a member from Boston, USA, plans to fly over and borrow a locally-owned Morgan to take part.
Crews (and marshals) will arrive around 6pm on the Saturday for a meal and will receive instructions to plot the route on OS maps.
The drivers will set off from the Caudwell’s Mill car park around 9.30pm on an 80-mile route through north Derbyshire, returning around 2am for a one-hour compulsory break and sustenance.
They will then set off on the second part of the rally around the Staffordshire Moorlands coming back for a hearty breakfast around 7am on Sunday.
Spectators would be very welcome, either at the start or at the marshal posts along the route.
