Social Media & Internet Policy [Last updated 2025]
Introduction
Rowsley Village Hall uses social media to support its goal to develop the hall as the community hub of village life and to enhance the social engagement of the village.
Objectives
RVH’s social media objectives are:
- To use it as a platform to engage with the community and provide timely information, news, and updates on community events and activities.
- To showcase local businesses and social groups that provide services and support to Rowsley village.
Social Media Platforms
The primary platforms for communicating with the community, under RVH Mgt committee’s control, are:
- the Rowsley Village Hall website
- the Rowsley Village Hall Facebook page.
Content for social media channels will include community news, events and details of clubs.
RVH Mgt Committee has no intention to create private community groups or host discussion forums. Third party content and/or links to the Village Hall website and Facebook page will only be permitted on approval of the Officers of the Mgt Committee
Permissions
All officers and the Bookings Manager have final approval of any content to be posted on social media channels. The Management Committee will ensure that all officers and staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to use social media appropriately and provide any necessary training as appropriate.
Any content that goes beyond the use as set out above in paragraphs will be shared with relevant officers of the management committee for approval before being uploaded to social media channels.
Password information is restricted to those officers and staff with access and two factor authentication and will be changed on a regular basis in accordance with best cyber security practice.
Content is reviewed by officers of the Management Committee assigned to social media and publicity. They are responsible for ensuring content is up-to-date and relevant; they are permitted to remove content.
In the event of a complaint, the Chair will respond in a timely manner and ensure that the policy is complied with and with reference to the Complaint’s Procedure.
In the event of an incident, Officers responsible for social media and publicity are responsible for ensuring prompt action and will be responsible for removing content. Any abusive message will be drawn to the attention of the Chair and the Chair will act accordingly.
