We strongly oppose the plans to use the car park on Old Station Close as a traveller site, because the proposed car park is not only used by people who run events at the village hall, but it is used by many other people who work or visit Rowsley.
Here is a summary of the article that appeared in the Parish Magazine:
The Planning Application 25/00200/FUL, for a temporary change of use of part of the car park to a 4 pitch traveller site for a maximum period of 2 years at Old Station Close Rowsley Derbyshire is now live on the District Council website www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk.
Please can all residents send in their comments to: planning@derbyshiredales.gov.uk focusing as before on their personal experiences of when the travellers were here previously and also how vital access to the entire car park is for the businesses on Old Station Close and the LEVEL art centre for the disabled as well as for walkers and cyclists using the White Peak Loop who would otherwise park on the roads in the village causing even more traffic chaos than we already have.
The Parish Council is trying to get the representations previously submitted as part of the consultation taken into account for this application but it is not certain that this will be the case so it is vital that as many people as possible submit their comments directly to the planning department.
The deadline for submissions is 28 April 2025.
